There are so many different ways to absorb entertainment and enjoy your free time. Going to concerts, going to a live sporting event, or even going to see a play. However, when it comes to staying home the big four are listening to music, reading a book, playing a game, and watching TV.
And, when it comes to stories, most people generally think about books. Nowadays, when an IP gets big it expands to all media. Take for example Star Wars. Star Wars started as a movie. Of course, the music was so good that they released a soundtrack. Then they moved on into books and comic books. Next, video games
came. Re-releasing the books in Audiobook form eventually came as well. Now, after the IP was acquired by Disney, more movies and TV dramas are being created at an insane rate.
Everything is quite enjoyable. So, my question is, “How do you prefer to enjoy a story?”
- Reading the physical book; a complete story in one package.
- Reading the digital book; same as a real book but easy to carry.
- Listening to the audio book; lay back in a chair or listen on your commute. Easy on the eyes.
- Reading the comic; a large story broken into small parts. It even has pictures!
- Playing the game; get the same epic story, but now you get to be in control.
- Watching the movie; you get most of the story and don’t have to use your imagination.
- Watching the TV show; the story stretched out over many seasons to let you feel a part of the universe one week at a time.
Personally, I keep flip flopping between reading digital and listening to the audio book. Something about closing your eyes and listening to a story being told by someone else is extremely relaxing, but reading the book yourself lets you go at your own pace.
I used to love movies the most, but I don’t have the time nor the energy to spend two hours at night watching a whole movie. If I do watch TV, I tend to watch dramas or anime. Thirty minutes is a lot easier to handle.
So, How about you?
