My dog just turned 14 years old, but she is still quite playful for her age. Her name is Frizzle which means, “curly,” like her hair.
Now that full blown summer is here, we need to start worrying about keeping her cool while we are out of the house.
First off, I gave her a summer haircut. Since she is the type of dog that doesn’t shed, she needs a haircut once every 3 or 4 months. She is too old to go to get it done professionally, so I bought a pair of clippers a few years ago and have shaved her hair by myself since then. It doesn’t look that good, but it is good enough. Cutting her toenails is the hardest part.
We also picked up some metal sheets for her to sleep on. It took her a while to get used to them, but now she seems to enjoy them. She scratches at them to make a spot and then finally relaxing on top.
And of course, we are leaving the AC on at a reasonable temperature and keeping her water dish full.
I leave you with a picture from when she was younger with two of her favorite toys.
