Even though the weather doesn’t seem to be cooperating, Spring is here. Cherry blossoms are in full bloom and children are getting ready for the new school year.
With the melting of the snow and the warmer weather, people have more energy than they can handle. All of that pent-up energy from Winter is ready to be used. So, it is a tradition in many Western countries to clean at the beginning of Spring.
In Japan, the end of December is considered the customary time to clean the house. Trying to clean the house to prepare for a clean start to the new year.
Personally, I have spent the past week cleaning my house following the traditions of Western culture. Both of my children are now elementary students, so Spring cleaning is a much larger task this year compared to other years. All of the toys from their preschool days, such as; play kitchens, preschool TV show character figures, etc., are finally ready to be thrown out.
I am not a fan of making excuses, but I have missed writing blogs for the past few weeks because of Spring cleaning.
Which do you think is better, End of year cleaning or Spring cleaning? Both have their merits and demerits. Maybe doing both is the best option. Then you can take a large task a split it into two smaller tasks.
