As technology continues to get smaller the lifespan of the item seems to shrink as well. As sturdy as many devices these days look, they only seem to last a few years before they start to break or slow down.
Making things worse is the fact that there is no way to repair the device yourself. Everything is glued together to tightly that is takes a careful hand and a hairdryer to even open the device, but there is a huge risk of damaging the device.
Smartphones, watches, laptops, and so many more devices are trying to pack as much technology into the smallest package as they can. Yes, the features are nice, but this is getting ridiculous.
I miss being able to buy the part I need then sitting down with a screw driver to fix it. When something breaks, the best thing to do now a days is to just buy a new one.
In America right now there is a large legal battle over the right to repair. So hopefully within the next few years companies will take the hint and start making more modular and reparable devices.
