I don’t like smartphone games, but….

When I have some free time, I like to play some video games. However, I despise touch screen games. Call me old fashioned, but holding a controller in my hands feels so much better than using my fingers on a touchscreen. When playing a game on a smartphone, your fingers are always blocking your view. On top of that sometimes the screen doesn’t respond well to touch and you make mistakes often. Because of all of those little quirks I find playing games on a touchscreen device to be very unenjoyable.

However, in the past few weeks I have been absolutely addicted to Kairosoft’s Pocket Academy. I am a sucker for simulation games, such as Sim City, Civilization, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and so many more.

Pocket Academy is a game where you are the owner of a high school in Japan that starts with only one student. You must grow your school by building more classrooms, researching new facilities, hiring teachers, training students, etc…

The game is made by a Japanese company so the school is based off of Japanese culture. The game is a little difficult for me since I don’t always understand the school life of a Japanese student since I grew up in America, but it is fun learning about what life would have been like living in Japan.

My school in the game is a complete mess and unorganized, but at least I haven’t failed yet.

If you want to practice English, I would recommend changing the game’s language settings to English.

I have been playing version 2 since I got it on sale a few months ago, but there is also version 3 if you are interested. It is available for Andriod and iPhone.
