Now that Thanksgiving Day is over in America, many families start to think about the next big event, Christmas! It is normally frowned upon decorating your house for Christmas before Thanksgiving, so most people choose to wait until Thanksgiving Day is over.
On Thanksgiving Day every year, there is a parade in New York City called the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. It is televised, so everyone can watch it across America. At the very end of the parade, after all of the other floats of Yoda, SpongeBob, Snoopy, and more, the very last float is Santa riding his sleigh. Which symbolizes the beginning of the Christmas season. In other words, the beginning of the shopping season and Black Friday. You now have the permission to put up your decorations without your neighbors complaining and start shopping for presents for you loved ones.
Black Friday is the day after Thanksgiving Day. Many stores and online retailers have amazing sales. Some of the sales are so good that people even get into fights over the deals. With out a doubt, each year the news will feature an angry mob of people attacking each other to get what they want first.
However, due to many factors, including safety, embarrassment, and a switch to online shopping, it has been getting better in recent years. Personally, I have never been a fan of Black Friday. The crowds and long lines stress me out.
